Celebrating Carrie

Dear Kol Emet Community,

The love and enthusiasm Carrie has brought into everything she has been a part of at Kol Emet is invaluable. In true “Carrie” selfless fashion, Carrie has requested that we not throw her a big party. In an effort to honor this request, but still show her how important she is to us all, we are organizing the following ways to acknowledge her. We want to show her how much we appreciate the lasting impression she has made on so many lives! We would like everyone who she has touched to be involved in celebrating her through these various thoughtful gifts:

  • Preschool children will be decorating a commemorative bench to be placed near the playground with their handprints.
  • Past and present Preschool and Religious School families will be invited to contribute pictures and memories to a commemorative book.
  • All congregants will have an opportunity to provide a message and decorate a square to be included on a commemorative quilt.
  • Proceeds from the quilt squares and book pages and any additional donations will go into a newly established Carrie Walinsky Scholarship fund.
  • Trees will be planted on Kol Emet’s property in Carrie’s honor.

We look forward to your participation and contribution to these thoughtful gifts that recognize and honor the many ways that Carrie has impacted the Kol Emet community. More information about each of these initiatives will be communicated soon. We are hoping to surprise her as much as possible, so please try not to mention these projects to her. We are planning to share the completed projects with her at events in May; please watch for more information about that as well.
