Kol Emet is a joyful, caring, diverse, and inclusive Reconstructionist Jewish congregation which fosters a sense of belonging and interconnectedness. Guided by our values and traditions, we are dedicated to building an enduring Jewish home that is creative, thoughtful, evolving, and engaged in active service to our community and the larger world.

Kehillah (Community)

We are an intentional Jewish community that provides sanctuary and respite to all who seek it. We bring joy and meaning into our holy days, milestones and transitions, enhancing them with food, drink and song. We nourish one another, and take time to cultivate relationships.

Mitzvah (Sacred Act/Obligation)

Fulfilling our sacred obligations to one another and to God reinforces our connection to our community, our people, and our highest values and ideals. We show up for one another without judgment and, with compassion, we take action to help those in need.

Tikkun Olam (Repair of the World)

We strive to create a world that is just and kind. We pursue justice/tzedek for all—through personal, social, and political action. We understand that we are responsible for our broader community and our planet.

Emet (Truth)

Our community is characterized by trust, honesty, and integrity. We believe that the free exchange of ideas is a source of vitality and creativity in our Jewish lives. By speaking the truth and following through on our promises we create a sense of safety that shapes our relationships and builds our community.

B’Tzelem Elohim (“In the Image of God”)

We affirm and embrace the sacred diversity of humanity. As we are all created in the multi-faceted image of God each person is entitled to fair treatment, full access and inclusion in all community offerings and services regardless of difference or ability.

L’Dor va’Dor  (“From Generation to Generation”)

As an evolving religious civilization, we have an obligation to honor, preserve, and shape Jewish history, tradition, and ritual for our generation and for generations to come.
